Seville offers endless opportunities. You can arrange the visit according to your interests and the time you have available, with the possibility of combining the various proposals or creating a tailor made itinerary.
During this visit it will be a great pleasure for me to accompany you through the Santa Cruz neighbourhood, the old Jewish quarter of Seville, with its winding alleys and picturesque small squares. Here some of the most famous operas of all time took place. After going through Plaza del Triunfo (Triumph Square), with its three monuments declared by UNESCO as World Heritage sites, we will visit the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. Its bell tower, the Giralda, the ancient minaret of the Almohad mosque of the XII century, has become the emblem of the city.
This visit will bring us inside the bullring of the Real Maestranza de Caballería, which is considered the temple of bullfighting, where from Easter Sunday to October, the best-known "matadors" of the world face the bulls in the ancestral struggle of man against nature. Crossing the oldest iron bridge in the city, we will reach Triana, which has given birth to famous bullfighters and to some of the most eminent figures of flamenco. Here we will immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of one of the most characteristic areas of Seville, with its ceramic workshops and the widely worshipped Virgen de la Esperanza.
The Alcázar is the oldest royal palace still in use in Europe. It was the residence of some historic figures that changed the course of history: Ferdinand III the Holy, the Catholic monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella and the Emperor Charles V, among others. After soaking in the charm of its richly decorated halls and its magnificent gardens, we will continue the visit into the Santa Cruz district, the old Jewish quarter of Seville, with its typical white façades, wrought iron balconies, narrow alleys and small squares that will seduce you.
To take a peek into the aristocratic past of Seville my proposal would be to visit two of the most beautiful palaces of the city: the Casa de Pilatos and the Palace of the Countess of Lebrija.
The Casa de Pilatos is considered the prototype of the Andalusian palace. Its walls are covered with magnificent "azulejos" or tiles and a valuable collection of classical
sculptures enriches its halls and gardens.
The Palace of the Countess of Lebrija, which is considered the best paved
mansion in Europe, exhibits magnificent Roman mosaics from Italica, which were
recovered and restored by the Countess in the early XX century.
This walking tour will take us from the famous Plaza de España (Spain Square), emblem of the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929 to Plaza del Triumfo (Triumph Square), which houses the three monuments declared by UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1987: the Cathedral, the Alcázar Palace and the Archive of Indies. During this walk of discovery of some of the most beautiful monuments of Seville, we will see, among others, the Royal Tobacco Factory, inextricably linked to the figure of Carmen, St. Telmo Palace, with its magnificent baroque portal and the Golden Tower, built by the Almohads in the XIII century.
In this visit I will accompany you in the discovery of the Cathedral of Santa Maria de la Sede, included in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and the Real Alcázar, the oldest European royal palace still in use, both declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. We will also take a stroll through the Santa Cruz district, the old Jewish quarter of Seville, which is a must-see with its narrow alleys, the small squares pervaded by the fragrance of the orange blossoms and the typical Sevillian patios. Here we will follow the tracks of Figaro, Carmen and Don Juan and we will go through the beautiful Murillo Gardens, named after the famous Sevillian painter.
Each visit can be organized according to your needs, curiosities and interests. You can create your itinerary ad hoc and I will be pleased to offer you my advice on organizing it in the best way.
